You can say you are going to a different country for a few months and want to use you phone while you are there and ask them to unlock it for you. Thats what I did!

Can i use my Optus prepaid sim in a postpaid mobile?
Im thinking of purchasing a iphone 4 through Optus on a plan and want to know if i can use my Optus prepaid sim card instead of the postpaid sim because i just want to use the plan to pay off the iphone every month!Can i use my Optus prepaid sim in a postpaid mobile?
