Can I use my old cell phone and buy a Virgin Mobile prepaid sim card in the USA?

I'm going over to the USA for a few months. I will bring my cell phone with me, but want to buy a local prepaid sim card. Does Virgin Mobile USA sell prepaid sim cards? Or do I have to buy a cell phone from them to use their service?

no, i'm sorry but virgin mobile in the USA dosn't have sim cards :/ i believe they run on sprint's network, which works on cdma, not gsm [in other words, their network dosn't have sim cards]



the only 2 major companies i think in the US are at%26amp;t and t-mobile [which both have contracts you can sign for 2 years, or they have uncontracted prepaid plans]

you're going to need all new service. You Virgin mobile phone will not be compatible unless it is quad-band, which it probably is not. Either way, there will not be a sim cad available through virgin here. You may be able to use the phone if you have it unlocked and find another prepaid carrier that uses GSM with sim cards. I Wireless is one, along with T-Mobile and AT%26amp;T. Either way, you could also just get a temporary phone suing prepaid service. Virgin Mobile in the USA do not use SIMcards as they use CDMA technologies rather than the commonly used GSM in other countries. You would have to buy a prepaid phone there.



T-Mobile USA use SIMcards, And you could put that in your current phone if it is unlocked and is triband.
