Let's say I got a prepaid T-Mobile SIM card and wanted to use it on Google's Nexus 1 Smart phone or even Verizon's Droid. Would I be able to do that?
I read that it would work, but data/voice will not. But I'm not sure. What features would work and what would not work? Can I use prepaid SIM card with any unlocked smart phone?
Well yes you can as long as the network is compatible with the phone itself (supports the bands specifically).
The Motorola Droid is not unlockable as it's CDMA-based.
The Google Nexus One is unlockable and it's GSM-based.
By prepaid you mean over-the-counter SIM Cards.... those SIM Cards usually don't have internet service preloaded... but can be activated with some carriers especially T-Mobile. But a better option would be FlexPay. It's the same as prepaid but well no contract and monthly plus you pay ahead before starting your service. So if you wanna use your phone for March 2010 you pay first. My dad has an unlocked iPhone and uses T-Mobile flexpay with a Data Plan. No credit check or whatever....
Only thing you don't get out of Flexpay is the phone discounts.... you need to have a good credit and get a normal postpaid plan to get those discounts
Need help?
