Wanting to buy a razor phone to use t mobile prepaid in. I dont think they sell them anymore at t-mobile. Found one on ebay that says phone has no contract just pop in your sim card. Can a t-mobile prepaid SIM card work in a used razor phone w/no contract?
Make sure the phone you buy is either unlocked or originated from T-Mobile. All GSM phones purchased from major providers have a subsidiary lock that prevents them from being used on the competitor's network. That means a GSM phone sold by Cingular will not simply work if you put a T-Mobile SIM in it. That said, all phones can be "unlocked" and many/most phones sold by third parties (such as on ebay) are already unlocked. If it doesn't say, then ask before you buy. If you have a locked phone, then they can be unlocked by most independent cell phone retailers for a small fee. Do *not* try to go to Cingular or T-Mobile store to get them unlocked, I've never found one that was willing to even talk about it. If you have had service with one of these providers for more than a year or so and want to unlock your phone, it is possible to call their customer service and request an unlock code (for free). Best advice is to tell them that you are traveling out of the country and need to use "in country" sim cards. This may take a bit of effort to talk them into it. Good luck. Can a t-mobile prepaid SIM card work in a used razor phone w/no contract?
